Learn to play the piano

Reading music is a skill anyone can learn! But to sit down and play something by ear or write your own composition, is another ballgame. Bring us the song YOU want to play and we’ll get you there. It includes extensive pitch training, and all ears are trainable!. We are all at different levels of musicianship and with correct training and patience it will improve, and all our students can attest to that. We can do classical training as well with or without exams.

My method is not unique, but it is certainly not the norm either. I believe that the lesson has to be fun, inspiring, relaxed and not overwhelming.

My method teaches you how to instantly play the songs of your choice and you can learn to play within 2 weeks. We explain that the “troublesome” left hand represents the drums and the bass guitar. We even have drum kits- compulsory training for all piano students- to help you understand the groove of the left hand. We arrange your choice of music to fit your level of skill. I can easily simplify ANYTHING, from Fur Elise to The Pink Panther – even for children as young as 9.

The traditional method does NOT teach you the elements of music and how it all works. The little kid (or even an adult which is far worse!) is subjected to learning how to read the notes of songs called “Pitter Patter Rain”. It takes years before you get to play Elton John. And you are book bound for the rest of your life. No book, no play.

It is the route you would take if you wanted to be a classical concert pianist and tour the world with symphony orchestras. One kid in a million will strive to attain this The lessons will consist of Trinity or Rock school or Unisa exams once a year. Never mind the fact that you don’t want to do that in the first place, it is also an alien environment, very boring to most people, especially kids – they want to play Disney or contemporary hits.
